The Gospel - How do you get saved, according to the Bible?

Updated: Feb 24, 2018

My friend, are you sure you will go to heaven? You will say yes. You don't see yourself as a sinner because you don't steal, don't murder and don't commit adultery? Well, let's see what the Bible says:

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23, KJV)

And even more explicit:

"For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." (James 2:10, KJV)

Plus:

"But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." (Revelation 21:8, KJV)

That may sound harsh, but it is the truth.

You don't care because you are not among them? Because you are not homosexual, not a socerer, not a murderer? You say hell is not for you, only for really bad people like Hitler, Crowley, Stalin and Manson?

But you still may be one of the unbelieving and the fearful. Meaning you don't believe in the truth. Because there is only one way to heaven:

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6, KJV)

The Gospel of Christ is not about you doing good works, reading the Bible daily, praying daily, turning form sins, getting water baptized, joining to church etc. All of them are good ideas, but none of them will give you a guarantee of going to heaven.

Just asking for forgiveness and being ashamed will not help either:

"For though thou wash thee with nitre, and take thee much soap, yet thine iniquity is marked before me, saith the Lord God." (Jeremiah 2:22, KJV)

Many people think that God would create an average mark of their behavior. I remember my school days: I had an E in Maths, but on the other hand I had a B in English. A bad mark can be balanced with a good one.

But that's not the truth. God is not like: "You lied 8,451 times, masturbated 964 times, robbed 20 times, beat up others 33 times, had bad thoughts on others 10,716 times, got drunk 517 times, fornicated 13 times, watched porn 167 times, divorced 2 times... on the other hand, you donated 31,250 dollars, went to church 501 times, kept the sabbath 383 times, fasted 408 days, repented of your sins 26 times, read the Bible 13 times and did 2 pilgrimages. Overall: not an extremely bad person, heaven." No, it doesn't work like that.

God is pure and holy.

Read Genesis Chapter 3. Adam and Eve did not commit hundreds of "big" sins, no, they only disobeyed Go once. The result? They both had to leave paradise. God did NOT tell them something like: "OK, you two, I warn you, I give you another chance, but next time you are in big trouble!" No, definitely not, according to the Bible.

You can only be together with God if you become pure and holy too. You can't do that in the flesh... but in the spirit!

God has a plan for you. Do you know why Jesus died on the cross for you?

"And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith." (Philippians 3:9)

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God." (John 3:16-18, KJV)

So what does matter now? Well, you must believe that Christ died on the cross for you and his blood washed away all of your sins of past, present and future. If you really trust on that as your ONLY hope of going to heaven (Jesus plus nothing equals everything), then you have your ticket to heaven! But you must believe. It's a covenant, and a covenant always consists of two parties, in that case it's Jesus and you.

Here another promise of Jesus:

"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." (John 6:47, KJV)

Remember Jesus said "hath" in present tense? Means you won't receive it somewhen later, you receive it in the moment you really trust in Jesus. And if it's everlasting, how long would it last? Correct, forever.

I hope that makes sense to you and I hope you can believe what I said.
